used to, be used to & get used to

used to + v1 ย. = เคยทำในอดีตเป็นประจำ ซึ่งตอนนี้ไม่ได้ทำแล้ว

be used to + v + ing หรือ คำนาม = เคยชิน

get used to + v + ing หรือ คำนาม = เริ่มเคยชิน

ตัวแรกคือ used to ผมพาเพื่อนไปเที่ยว แถวจังหวัดที่เคยอยู่ ขับรถผ่านโรงเรียนเก่า ก็บอกกับเพื่อนว่า That is the school where I used to study.

ต้องใช้ study ที่เป็น verb ช่อง 1 ย. (ย. แปลว่า ยังไม่ผัน)ก็คือ study ผันเป็น studies, studied, studying, will study ไม่ได้

People used to think that the earth was flat. คนเคยคิดว่าโลกแบน

หลักการใช้ used to แบบ กริยาพิเศษ อื่น ๆ ก็

1. เป็นปฏิเสธ ใส่ not หลัง used หน้า to I used not to smoke.

2. คำย่อของ used not คือ usedn’t

3. เป็นคำถามเอา used มาไว้หน้าประโยค Used he to smoke?

4. เป็น question tag ใน tag ใช้ used ตัวเดียว You used to live in Moscow, usedn’t you?

5. ลองสังเกตประโยค There used to be a really clever teacher in this school. เคยมีครูที่ฉลาดยอดเยี่ยมอยู่ใน ร.ร.นี้ Oh, used there? โอ๊ะ โอ่...เคยมีจริงเหรอ?

หลักการใช้ used to แบบ กริยาธรรมดา

ก็คือ การเอา verb to do (do, does, did, done) เข้ามาช่วย

John used to live in Bangkok, didn’t he? หรือ usedn’t he? ก็ได้

Jim didn’t used to smoke as much as he does now. ตรงที่ขีดเส้นใต้ จะใช้แบบกริยาพิเศษอย่างเมื่อวาน usedn’t to ก็ได้

There used to be a really clever teacher in this school. Oh, was there? หรือจะใช้ Oh, used there? ก็ได้

Did you use to study in that school? = Used you to study...?

แต่คุณอยากจะพูดให้เพราะ เขียนให้ไพเราะ คำว่า didn’t use to ที่แปลว่า ไม่เคยเนี่ย ผมแนะนำให้ใช้ never used to มาแทนจะดีกว่า

June never used to smoke as much as she does now. ตรงที่ขีดเส้นใต้ก็เท่ากับคำว่า didn’t use to นั่นเอง อ่านแล้ว ฟังแล้ว เพราะมากกว่ากันเยอะครับ

ฝากไว้หน่อย ประโยค used to ใช้เฉพาะกรณีที่เป็น past tense หรือเป็นเรื่องที่เกิดในอดีตเท่านั้น ปัจจุบัน หรืออนาคตจะมาใช้ไม่ได้ ไม่มีนะครับ Nitipoom uses to หรือ Nitipoom will use to.

เรื่อง be used to ที่ต้องตามด้วยกริยา + ing หรือ + คำนาม

be used to = เคยชิน = accustomed to ท่านผู้อ่านอย่าไปสับสนกับคำว่า used to ที่เราเคยว่ากันไปแล้วนะครับ used to ตัวนั้น แปลว่า “เคย” ต้องตามด้วย v1 ย. (ยังไม่ผัน) เท่านั้น

John used to come home late. จ้อนเคยกลับบ้านช้า (ปัจจุบันไม่ช้าแล้ว)

John is used to coming home late. จ้อนชินกับการกลับบ้านช้า (เดี๋ยวนี้ก็ยังกลับช้า)

be used to มีรูปเป็น is used to, are used to, was used to, were used to ก็ได้ แล้วแต่ว่าท่านผู้อ่านจะใช้เป็น tense ไหน ส่วน get used to = + นาม หรือ v + ing แปลว่า เริ่มเคยชิน
